What We Can Do Today
Collaborating with City agencies and other groups on the “real” solutions to the people in our neighborhoods experiencing homelessness, illicit drug use, and other transient issues is going to take time. Those collaborations are underway.
As residents, we have our own duties and responsibilities. There are things within our control that we can do to begin improving conditions immediately.
Re-establishing standards for the kind of neighborhood we live in. What do we want to see each day we walk out our front doors? Litter & blight don’t have to be our vista.
Being vigilant, looking out for each other, and actively reporting suspicious activity and blighted conditions.
Using our streets & parks! It’s up to us not to abandon our neighborhood outside of our homes. Warm weather means safety (and water!) first—but taking walks, bike rides, and using the playgrounds & parks during cooler times of the day is a step we can all take today and most days.
At our upcoming June meeting, we’ll be planning a group family bike ride as a social event, demonstration of solidarity among neighbors, and an opportunity for all neighbors to feel safe participating in a group setting as we bike around the area together.
