Building a Brand

Big brands get lots of attention—but small brands can be just as important, and for a fraction of what big brands spend.

A brand is a name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one good or service as distinct from another.

Our neighborhood brand helps promote civic pride & communicates a neighborhood identity. Our brand is also a tool we can use to gain visibility with City agencies, and to advocate our vision for the future of our neighborhood and the rest of the city at large.

Nearby “Moon Valley” is widely known because residents there understood the value of branding their neighborhood and smartly chose nearby Moon Mountain as their namesake. Through decades of dedication and consistency—they successfully branded their piece of Phoenix.

Our neighborhood is distinct. Block homes, mountain views, an enormous public park, and easy access to Valley freeways are just some of the reasons we should have real civic pride in our neighborhood.

Shaw Butte Mountain has an interesting (if seldom discussed) geologic story, and Shaw Butte Elementary is a long-time landmark and anchor in the neighborhood—making “Shaw Butte” the obvious choice for branding our neighborhood.

A sample of our logo appears at the top of this page and throughout the site. More details about our neighborhood brand will be announced in the coming months.
